New Moon in Cancer: July 15th

It’s new moon time – in Cancer.
Time to flow with this energy…
(Side note: this totally supports this week’s Goddess card, Artemis – synchronicity!)

With the New Moon in protective, introverted Cancer, we look for quality and safety in what we want to create and surround ourselves with. We experience life in a deeper, more instinctual way.  This new moon is teaching us to dive deep within to uncover the hidden pearls of self-love and compassion.

The metaphysical “element” of water is as essential to our spiritual survival as its material namesake is for our physical. “Water” corresponds to our feelings — and both need to flow — just like its physical counterpart, when emotional “water” gets stagnant, it breeds dis-ease. Life then continues at a very low vibrational setting. Cancer is the first water sign of the zodiac; it relates to the development of the “emotional body”. With this New Moon, we are ready to deepen our understanding of our emotional needs.

Our feeling nature has been denied and suppressed for millennia; we have begun to embrace it more fully. Feelings are an essential source of information. When we listen to them, we learn our true needs, what is healthy for us. When we don’t, we become dependent on others for validation and direction, or get lost in addictions and other distractions.

Ask yourself:
What are the optimal conditions for my growth?
Am I rooted in the right place?
What feeds the blossoming of my being?

Also happening now: Mercury and Mars align in Cancer, making an exact opposition to Pluto in Capricorn. We are being asked to be completely honest with ourselves and others, unearthing any deep, unresolved emotional issues. This also calls for the deepening of our emotional intelligence — the ability to understand, communicate and act appropriately in accordance with our feelings. We rarely ask ourselves: What do I feel in this moment? For these next two weeks, allow yourself to inspect your feelings. Are they connected to something that is happening in the “now-moment”, or to something from the past?

In addition, Venus and Uranus are stationing; this emphasizes what we value (including self-value) and what still needs to change if we are to make progress.

This New Moon wants you to reclaim and integrate all the parts of yourself that were “poopoo’d” by society or your family of origin. As best as you can, embrace all of your feelings and nurture yourself: Be the healthy parent to your inner child, your own best friend. Never be ashamed of letting your feelings shine a light into this world!

The New Moon is also the best time to set some powerful intentions for this month’s Moon cycle. Intentions are best done soon after the New Moon becomes exact — and not during a Moon void of course phase. So this month, the best time to set intentions would be any time between 9:24pm on Wednesday evening and 7:24am EDT on Thursday morning; and then again from 10:15am on Thursday until 9:24pm EDT on Friday evening.

From Cathy Pagano:

“Cancer. Sign of the Waters of Life, the archetypal Great Mother, as well as the sign of our emotional body.  The sign of feminine power that nurtures life.  Cancer wants us to grow and prosper, not as economic beings, but as human beings.  This Great Mother doesn’t see us as sinners or slackers if we don’t make a lot of money or aren’t ‘famous’.  This Mother loves us just for being us.  She wants us to nurture our talents and gifts, because those gifts are meant to be shared with family and the world.

At this new moon in Cancer, we can plant the seeds of our deepest needs and desires, watered by our sense of self-love and compassion.  We need to love ourselves so we can love others.  Our fulfillment sparks others to find their own.  And our compassion fills us with the knowledge of our inter-dependence, making us willing to share ourselves with the world. Compassion is an important virtue to practice – it helps us feel the pain of the world and makes us want to help make things better.  Mars and then Mercury oppose Pluto before they come together in Cancer – it feels like poeple will begin to wake up to the oppression all around us on any level.

Exercise more emotional control today, otherwise you may over-react to perceived slights.”

From Kelly Rosano:
“This is a busy new moon – new truths revealed – feelings could be intense at this time.  Trust your instincts.  This new moon may bring to light the things you do that sabotage you.  Are you buying into the illusion that you are unworthy?  Arguing for your limitations will not bring what you want.  Excuses do not produce results.  This is a cleansing moon, exposing truths.

Practice patience and compassion.  Center yourself.  This is an opportunity to heal old wounds.  Release what no longer serves you – you will be liberated and free.

The Cancer new moon is emotional intensity.  Make friends with your feelings.  Embrace your dark side.  You are both light and dark, shadow and light, male and female, yin and yang.  Love all of you.  This creates wholeness.  It heals the schisms in your psyche.

The wheel of life is turning at an accelerated pace, requiring us to change.  You are to shift, release and flow with this transformation.  The good news is that you can heal yourself.  You can achieve giant leaps in consciousness.  You can use July to transform your fears, insecurities, and vulnerabilities.  Indulging in negative thinking is a luxury you cannot afford. Complaining holds you in a constant state of resistance, pushing away the things you want.  Be proactive. Stay positive in spite of obstacles or setbacks.  Use the positive energy that is flowing to you.

Come from love, not fear.
Be truthful.
Be open to encouragement.
Allow the energy in July to cleanse you.
Say yes to new beginnings.
Say yes to the new opportunities that are now in your life.

Be a warrior for love.”
