New Moon: Oct. 12, 2015

Happy new moon!  This one is all about balance, and mirroring back to us what we need to see.

We are still processing the results of last month’s powerful trio of the eclipses and the equinox. Rather than a reset, this new moon is helpful in supporting something in your life that you are striving to balance. Make some commitments around something that became clear to you during the eclipse time that you would like support for.

This new moon is about relationship, community and cooperation. It is important to give voice to your intentions and desires. Then spend some time in “being” mode so you can begin to receive.

With the New Moon in harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra, we seek win-win situations, fair exchanges with others and harmonious connections within our relationships. This is a great time to begin a new project that calls for diplomatic, negotiation, and relationship skills.

Some questions for this new Moon cycle:
Where is the balance point?
What if harmony and peace were yours to create?

It’s also worth noting, that the more we are able to approve of ourselves, the easier it gets to create relationships that honor both parties equally.

The Libra energy encourages us to see both sides of a situation and find a middle path (or a win-win). In order to reconcile opposite energies, we need to engage heart and mind, and seek the highest and best outcome for everyone involved — in other words, we need to see everyone as equally deserving. As best as we can, we need to seek these mutually beneficial relationships without compromising our essentials selves, values and goals.

The New Moon opposes Uranus in Aries, asking us to shift our perception and break free from relationships that stifle our unique spark, or leave us feeling “less than” or “more than”. Any relationship that no longer allows us to express our true selves needs to be reexamined — and either changed or ended.

If we can come to see everyone and everything in the world as a reflection of what already exists inside of us, we no longer need to fight wars, small or large. By the same token, we can see the beauty that shines in each of us, and embrace it as our own. (Namaste, anyone?)

Venus (ruler of Libra) is making a square to Saturn in Sagittarius and an opposition to Neptune in Pisces. This creates a “T-square”, with Saturn as the focus point; this invites us to reassess our values and beliefs around relationships — we are being asked to slow down and create healthy boundaries with others, communicating what works for us and what doesn’t. We’ll need, in every new moment, to asses what is appropriate for us.  Any attempt to rush will result in inappropriate boundaries, rigidity, anxiety or overwhelm.

Pluto ended its station last week; this provides an opportunity to take a giant step forward in our lives, by letting go of control and knocking down our “walls”. The key is to open our hearts — the moment we get scared, “old” traumas will force that opening.

The temptation here is to obsess over your long-term goals, out of a fear that there won’t be enough recognition, progress, results, achievements, ability to provide, etc… As best as you can, surrender to the process, allow the experience to be what it is. You’re safe and you’re accomplishing things, making progress always — even if it’s not visible yet.

Self-care is a very important component in this: Without it, we can’t accomplish much — we’re always behind the eight-ball. It’s like they tell you on an airplane: Put your own oxygen mask on before helping others 😉

If this New Moon had a core message, it would be:
Keep improving your relationship to your health, yourself, others, the planet.
Where does love need to go?
Where have things gone out of balance?
Where are you standing in service?

Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in one of the following placements: 17-21 degrees of Libra, Aries, Capricorn or Cancer? If so, you may feel the effects of this New Moon more strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).

*Note: the best time to set powerful intentions for this moon phase is after the new moon is exact AND after it is void of course – for this cycle, that means between 5:40 PM on Tuesday and 8:00 PM on Wednesday!
